Official News from Peter Black

Hey Everybody,
Here's some news:
I'm making a new record and you may be able to help.
It's my plan to produce a number of "house concert/recording events" and if all goes well take the best of the bunch and make a CD. I am working on a couple of venues and would like to find a few more. So if you know of a space or have one yourself that you'd like to surrender to me and some other folks for the duration I'd be interested in hearing from you.
The space could be as small as someone's living room and as large as.......well, you get the idea.
I have one local Porstmouth restaurant interested and a friend with a wonderful space at their home. I'll consider anyplace really. You can reach me at peterblacksongs@yahoo.com o
r 207 324 8432.
For me, this a big experiment. I'm much more comfortable playing to a live audience rather than in a typical recording studio. I also have some newer songs that I'm excited about and feel the need to have them recorded. I've enlisted the help of singer/guitarist/songwriter Ed Jurdi and acoustic bass player Steve Roy. Both talented musicians and great people. The vibe with them is really positive, comfortable, and thick with groove. And it could all be a rather fun party. Who knows!?
Get in touch if you've any ideas or suggestions.
Thank you!
Peter

Peter Black to Perform at Inaugural Seacoast Songwriters Showcase
Peter Black is proud to announce that he has been selected to perform
at the Seacoast Guitar Society's first-ever Seacoast Songwriters
Showcase concert. Black has also been included on SGS's new CD sampler
of local talent, entitled "Seacoast Songwriters Volume 1."

The
CD is to be officially released at concert, which will take place
at Unitarian Church in downtown Portsmouth, NH, at 7 PM on Sunday,
November 11. The "Showcase" is the first event of its
kind to be put on by the Seacoast Guitar Society, a not-for-profit
organization dedicated to promoting local and regional guitar-based
musical talent.
Along
with Black, both the concert and CD feature respected regional musicians
Cormac McCarthy, Joyce Andersen, Heidi Batchelder, Craig Werth,
Kate Redgate, and Tom Richter. Each will perform four songs at the
show and are represented by two songs each on the CD. Black
's contributions
to the CD sampler are "When You Call Me" and the title
track from his most recent release, "When Trouble Comes."
"I
am thrilled to be included in the Seacoast Guitar Society's CD and
concert," said Black. "It's a tremendous honor to be associated
with such talented musicians, and everything the Society produces
is of the highest quality and professionalism, so I'm confident
that the show will be tremendous success."
Legendary
local singer-songwriter Harvey Reid organized the event and produced
the CD. "I have been one of Peter's biggest fans for years,"
Reid explained. "He appeared on my latest CD and I am very
pleased and excited that he could be a part of this project, as
well." Reid added, "I'm sure not many people are familiar
with all seven of the artists I have assembled here, but fans of
great acoustic guitar and songwriting are in for a real treat from
each and every one of them."
For
tickets to the show, or to get more information about the artists
and the Seacoast Guitar Society, visit www.seacoastguitar.org

Peter Black in the News
Portsmouth Herald, November 7, 2001
"The Seacoast Guitar Society has been an amazing organization,"
says Peter Black, who performed for years in funk and soul bands before
going the solo acoustic route. "I've been exposed to musicians
I may have never seen and learned a great deal about the depth and
diversity of what 'guitar music' has to offer to all of us."
He cites "virtuoso players" like nationally known finger-picking
master guitarists Stephen Bennett and Chris Proctor to songwriters
like Dick Gaughan of Scotland and Buddy Mondlock of Nashville as examples
of the fine variety of performers that the SGS can offer to area musicians
and audiences alike. Read on...

more than 20 years performing in most of the local food and drink
establishments, with his own "adult contemporary
